About Me:
I grew up in Calgary, Alberta with an older sister and two very active parents. My parents introduced me too life in the outdoors well before I was able to walk, taking on hikes and skis in a backpack. So as soon as I was able to walk it was natural for me take a load off my parents back and start to ski around on my own steam. Many of my early memories are from skiing with my family in Kananaskis Country in the Rocky Mountains near Calgary.
As I grew older I followed through all the programs with my ski club Foothills Nordic. This when I learned to ski and my love for the sport grew. Once I started racing seriously around 13 I was hooked and began to train year round shortly after. I progressed onto the Junior National team when I was 16 and exposed to a new level training and competition. Working with Alain Parent ,the National Junior team coach, I learned the training fundamentals that would help guide me for the rest of my career.
When I was 17 I qualified and raced at my first World Junior Championship. This was a great experience but I was not at the level that I needed to be to be competitive. I progressed in my last two years as a Junior but was never able to show progression at World Junior Championships where it mattered most. Due partly to this when my Junior days were over I didn't qualify for the Senior National team. I choose instead to be a member of a National Training centre and had the choice between Quebec and Thunder Bay. I decided to go to Quebec and be coached by Louis Bouchard. The change of scenery was a huge lift and Louis slightly different approach to training worked great for me. After two years of training with the Quebec Training Centre I qualified for the Senior National team, but I have continued to spend time in Quebec and still am coached by Louis.
Outside of skiing I like spending my time with my family, my girlfriend Brittany Webster, and doing anything outdoors. I am also a huge fan of anything sport related, from pro sports to amateur like to be up to date in the sporting world. When I done with my skiing career I would like to do something to help save our planet from all the damage we do to it.
